Success Stories and Press Releases
CHRISTUS Health - CHRISTUS Health is a 60-hospital health system with nearly 350 medical facilities. With nearly two million patient discharges a year, the health system has a strong commitment to providing the highest quality of care to patients through IT innovation. CHRISTUS Health selected Compuware to optimize the performance and availability of its clinical electronic health records (EHR) systems. Now with visibility into clinician end-user experience, the organization can proactively identify and resolve performance issues before they impact patient care.
Detroit Medical Center (DMC) – The health center’s existing system and applications were unstable, resulting in frequent complaints from end users. The DMC needed to move from a paper-based clinical process to an automated process to maximize patient safety and care, provide high quality health service and reduce costs. The DMC achieved a 40 percent cost savings in the first two years after implementation, and 99 percent of implementations are now defect-free. In addition, help-desk ticket turn-around time was reduced significantly.
New Benchmarks for U.S. Healthcare Information Providers – Health information remains one of the most important topics that Internet users research online. According to a Pew Research Center study, eight in 10 Internet users look online for health information. As health information providers look to drive increased adoption of online services and attract new users, the web serves as a critical channel to engage with consumers. Information providers need to ensure that their sites are available and fast enough to meet users' objectives and not drive them to competing sites.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center – As the North Carolina healthcare organization increasingly adopted electronic and online systems for patient records, radiology and other key functions, establishing and maintaining IT performance standards became critical. With Gomez, New Hanover was able to more quickly troubleshooting IT with no increase in personnel, reduce service desk calls, and improve staff efficiency and morale as well.
Detroit Medical Center – The DMC needed clinical automation to reduce costs, streamline processes and provide better patient care and safety. Today, patient records are available to multiple users at once, with real-time viewing of critical data from anywhere, anytime. The result is a single standard of care across the system, brining clinical and administrative staff together to achieve a common goal of transforming patient care through health information technology.
Detroit Medical Center – DMC’s board of Directors wanted to track funding for a multi-year implementation of EMR. With an aggressive schedule, it was necessary to monitor the project very carefully for red flags or issues.
Detroit Medical Center - Detroit Medical Center (DMC) chose to completely modernize and expand its healthcare IT system by implementing an EMR. In order to do that without frustrating physicians or sacrificing patient care, it needed to ensure that systems were stable, performing at levels acceptable to the end users and highly available. With Gomez, DMC reduced IT costs and maintained staff size, all while significantly modernizing and technology infrastructure.
“With the launch of electronic medical record keeping, the DMC is once again leading the nation in pioneering technology designed to improve medical care for patients.”
—Michael Duggan, President and CEO, Detroit Medical Center
“Most of our time over the next year will be focused on improving the service of information systems. That means shoring up the infrastructure, improving procedures, beefing up our monitoring and response capabilities, targeting various applications that are reported to be poorly performing, setting future goals and showing improvement. Gomez is really the centerpiece of this very large, one-year initiative to bring IS services up to world-class standards.”
—Avery Cloud, Vice President and CIO, New Hanover Regional Medical Center
